Taktiful among founding charter signatories for the PAC Global IOU Charter.

Major global brands unite to make packaging easily accessible for everyone, including the use of tactile effects for the visually impaired.

PACK IOU Charter Signatories

Melbourne, FL, 8th of July, 2022:  Taktiful announced today the signing of the PAC IOU Charter, which has been developed in collaboration with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and PAC Global, a not-for-profit packaging association. This PAC IOU Charter is to unite, galvanize and champion package design by everyone for everyone and to ensure people’s differences are recognized and incorporated into every stage of the packaging design and manufacturing process.

“This is something that the team at Taktiful stands behind 100%,” says Kevin Abergel, founder of Taktiful. “We have for so long preached the benefits of tactile and raised print technologies as a functional embellishment rather than simply a visually pleasing one. With the Charter’s signing by these major global brands today, we hope to see tactile technologies in packaging gain steam and rapidly begin helping visually impaired people quickly discern what products they are holding by just touching them.”

“Visually impaired does not necessarily mean completely blind either, it has a much wider scope that applies to almost anyone. It could be as simple as someone who has misplaced their glasses or someone in the shower who may have soap in their eyes and looking to grab the shampoo and not the conditioner. Incorporating raised effects in the product packaging where one can easily feel the difference between a shampoo and a conditioner is a perfect example of what this Charter aims to help with,”  Abergel continued.

Other founding charter signatories include Kellogg’s, Proctor & Gamble, Westrock, RNIB, Marks, Cy.R.U.S., and more.

By endorsing this Charter, organizations have affirmed their commitment to creating equal opportunities for all, and to make packaging easy to use, and associated information easy to access, use and understand.

The organizations supporting this Charter share the PAC IOU vision of an inclusive packaging workforce. A workforce where differences are valued and celebrated creates a world where everyone can develop to their full potential, inspiring new approaches to innovation within universal package design, organically leading to accessible packaging becoming the norm globally. For more information on the PAC IOU charter and to sign, please visit https://www.pac.global/charter/
