Horizon Smart Factory 2020 Recap

Horizon Smart Factory 2020 Recap Video

Virtual Event. Real Innovation.

Print finishing solution manufacturer Horizon International hosted the Horizon Smart Factory 2020 event at their new state-of-the-art Horizon Innovation Park (HIP) facility from October 26 to November 6. The event consisted of socially-distanced in-person demonstrations for 370 domestic customers and two live English shows daily which were attended by nearly 2,000 registrants from 59 countries.

During the event the HIP showroom was transformed into a working Smart Factory with a focus on automation, printer inline finishing, and workflow solutions. Automated guided vehicles and robot feed book production systems played a major role in allowing the simultaneous operation of numerous production lines with minimum staff.

Horizon worked closely with industry leaders Screen, Canon, Ricoh, Konica Minolta, RMGT, FUJIFILM Graphic Systems, Hunkeler, and spencerMETRICS  to integrate upstream and downstream solutions on the showroom floor to demonstrate the benefits of a streamlined production process. Screen, Canon, and Ricoh installed printers to run inline with the latest finishing solutions from Horizon including the four clamp perfect binder BQ-500 and three-side trimmer HT-300 from the new iCE Series of products.

The iCE Series is Horizon's flagship line of finishing solutions that uses advanced automation and integration with the iCE LiNK cloud network to increase productivity, reduce labor costs, and increase return on investment.

In addition to the iCE Series of products, Horizon used the show to debut their new finishing solutions originally scheduled to be shown at the now cancelled Drupa 2020. New solutions include:

  • 4-Clamp Perfect Binder: BQ-500
  • Loose Sheet Book Block Feeder for four clamp perfect binder: LBF-500
  • End Sheet Feeder for Case Bound Book Production: ESF-1000
  • Gauze Feeder for Case Bound Book Production: GF-500
  • Three-SideTrimmer: HT-300
  • Digital Web Saddle Stitcher: StichLiner Mark V
  • Rotary Die-Cutter: RD-N4055
