X-Rite Incorporated, a global leader in color science and technology, entered into a definitive Assets Purchase Agreement to acquire specific software and firmware assets of Rutherford Graphic Products (RGP), a U.S.-based provider of closed-loop press automation technology for packaging converters. The acquisition builds on years of collaboration between the two companies and positions X-Rite to deliver a fully integrated suite of press automation solutions designed to enhance productivity and sustainability in modern print operations.

For years, RGP has partnered with X-Rite to develop scanning automation technologies that enable converters to retrofit existing presses with cost-effective tools for automated color control. These systems help reduce paper waste, minimize press downtime, and extend press life. With the acquisition, X-Rite will now directly integrate RGP’s closed-loop systems into its portfolio, offering converters a unified platform that simplifies operations, improves color accuracy, and reduces manual intervention.
