Mimaki Expands 3D Workflow Potential with Print Prep Pro 2.0

With the release of Mimaki 3D Print Prep Pro v2.0, Mimaki is continuing to lower the barriers to entry in 3D print production while opening the door to more sophisticated applications. Building on the original 2021 release, the updated software adds intelligent data optimization features that simplify one of the biggest hurdles in 3D printing: file preparation. The most notable addition is lattice structure conversion, allowing users to generate lightweight or cushioned internal structures with adjustable density and four pattern options. This has clear implications for mock-ups and prototypes in footwear, furniture, and design applications where flexibility and material behavior are critical.

The expanded data conversion capabilities may be even more strategically important. By supporting drone-based topographic and architectural data as well as CT scan files within a single software environment, Mimaki is streamlining workflows that traditionally required multiple platforms. That creates meaningful value for sectors such as medical modeling, architecture, and cultural artifact reproduction. As Arjen Evertse explains, “3DPv2 makes the entire process easy from beginning to end.” The addition of offline operation also strengthens the platform’s appeal in security-sensitive environments where intellectual property protection and confidential data handling are top priorities.
