The Ghent Workgroup (GWG) has introduced a new Processing Steps Test Suite, designed to assist packaging and label professionals in validating PDF files that incorporate non-printing production elements such as dielines, varnish layers, and braille. This suite aligns with the ISO 19593-1 standard, promoting consistency and automation in packaging workflows.
Developed by GWG’s Packaging Subcommittee, the suite includes sample files that demonstrate the correct implementation of processing steps metadata within PDFs. These resources enable software developers and print service providers to test and refine their workflows, ensuring accurate handling of technical layers throughout the production process.
The Processing Steps Test Suite supports the industry's move toward standardized, automated workflows, reducing errors and improving efficiency in packaging production. It can be downloaded here.
