Royal Geostick Group announced the purchase of a new 12-color BOBST MASTER M5 flexographic press, strengthening its production capabilities for high-volume multilayer label applications. The press, which will be installed at the company’s Uithoorn facility in the Netherlands, is configured with advanced features including a double unwinder, QN module, and oneECG-readiness. The investment builds on a longstanding collaboration between Royal Geostick and BOBST, adding conventional flexo capacity alongside existing digital platforms.
The move comes as demand for multilayer labels accelerates, driven in part by regulatory changes across Europe. EU Regulation 2024/2865, set to take effect in July 2026, introduces stricter labeling requirements that increase the amount of information required to be displayed on packaging. As a result, multilayer labels are becoming a preferred solution for brands seeking to meet compliance standards while maintaining design flexibility. Royal Geostick said the new press will enable efficient, one-pass production of these complex labels at scale, with a focus on sustainability and reduced waste.
Designed for high-throughput production, the MASTER M5 offers full automation, rapid changeovers, and precise register control, supporting stable high-speed operation. Integration with BOBST Connect further enhances workflow efficiency by enabling seamless data flow across production. “We needed a press with the highest productivity and minimum waste,” said Cees Schouten, COO of Royal Geostick, highlighting the company’s focus on combining digital and flexo technologies to address varying run lengths and application requirements.
