TOPPAN Digital Inc., a TOPPAN Group company, will present its latest NFC-based connected packaging solutions at Paris Packaging Week 2026, taking place February 5–6 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. The company will exhibit in the PLD area, focusing on digital solutions for the luxury beverage, fragrance, and beauty sectors.
TOPPAN Digital has established a strong presence in Europe by combining secure NFC tags with cloud-based ID authentication platforms. At the show, the company will highlight how these technologies help brands address challenges such as limited supply chain visibility, counterfeit and refilled products, gray market diversion, and the need to respond quickly to shifting consumer trends. The solutions are designed to enhance both operational control and consumer-facing engagement without compromising premium packaging aesthetics.
A central feature of the exhibit is NFC tags with opening-detection functionality for luxury beverages and fragrances. Integrated discreetly into packaging, the tags detect when a product has been opened by breaking an internal circuit, changing the package status to “opened” and preventing fraudulent refilling. Consumers can verify authenticity with a smartphone scan, while brands can deliver different digital content before and after opening to create premium experiences.
TOPPAN Digital will also demonstrate its ID authentication platform, which assigns unique digital identifiers to individual products. By linking these identifiers to NFC tags, brands gain item-level traceability from manufacturing through distribution and sale. This enables the detection of gray market activity, improves supply chain transparency, and supports more efficient operations across global markets.
Additional NFC innovations on display include tags with integrated LEDs that light up when scanned by a smartphone, on-metal NFC tags designed for reliable performance on metal containers, and super mini-sized NFC tags suitable for compact beauty packaging such as lipstick and mascara. The company will also present RFID tags engineered to withstand laundering for apparel applications, extending connected product capabilities beyond packaging.
In the Talks program, Grégoire Fremiot, CEO of Selinko, will join leaders from the luxury beauty sector for a panel discussion on using connected packaging to scale AI and data utilization. The session will examine how NFC-enabled products create reliable data across the product lifecycle—foundational for effective AI deployment in brand protection, operations, and customer engagement.
By combining secure identification, connected packaging, and data platforms, TOPPAN Digital positions its solutions as a bridge between trust, compliance, and premium brand experience. At Paris Packaging Week 2026, the company will demonstrate how NFC-enabled packaging can protect value, enable digital product passports, and unlock new opportunities for luxury brands navigating increasingly complex global markets.
