You’ll find the city of Eau Claire less than two hours east of Minneapolis. I know this because INKISH and the fantastic printing company Documation visited the town on November 17th, 2021. Documation is a super interesting printing company that has converted from an almost in-plant of educational books to one of North America's most innovative and automated digital printing companies. Jeremy Stanek, VP of Operations, was our host during the day, where we saw how web-based HP digital equipment, along with Xerox (as far as I remember) sheet printing, were used to feed our episode sponsor, Horizon International, finishing equipment. Stitched magazines and softcover books in runs of one was what Documation could offer - simply amazing! 

While waiting for Jeremy Stanek when we arrived, we looked at many cover stories posted in the meeting room. When he arrived he told me that CTO Adam Dewitz from WhatTheyThink once worked in the company - fun fact - and excellent that industry colleagues have a background in such a fine company as Documation. 

Later, we met Jeremy Stanek at an HP event in Alpharetta, where he told us that the film we did had generated not only interest in Documation but also a significant international customer. At PRINTING United 2023, I got the chance to meet both Stanek and the customer; super fun :-)

However, this article concerns Walsworth and their acquisition of Documation on January 1st, 2025. Walsworth President Don Walsworth welcomes Documation to the family and explains how Documation and their digital journey have been instrumental in the decision to acquire the company. 

Walsworth is also a family-owned printing company with over 87 years of history. With more than 1,200 workers and being the third-largest magazine and book printer, it is not a bad position for Documation. 

It's always interesting to see how our industry improves by consolidating!
