Forest Printing Doubles Down on RMGT Offset

Forest Printing Company has strengthened its offset production strategy with the installation of a second RMGT 790 Series Perfecting Press with LED curing, following the addition of an 8-color configuration in 2024. The newly installed 4-color RMGT 7 Series press enhances capacity and production consistency for the family-owned Chicagoland commercial printer, which has served the market since 1977. “Adding a second press allows us to increase capacity while improving efficiency and maintaining consistent quality,” said Founder Randy Martini. The RMGT 790 platform combines high-speed production—up to 15,000 sheets per hour—with automated plate changing, fast makeready, and closed-loop color control, enabling the company to reduce downtime and improve throughput with its existing workforce.

LED curing further strengthens the return on investment by lowering energy consumption, eliminating spray powder, and enabling immediate finishing, all of which reduce total operating costs and accelerate job turnaround. While B2 digital presses were evaluated, Forest Printing determined that offset remains the most cost-effective solution for its short-to-mid-run commercial mix, delivering higher throughput and lower cost per impression as volumes increase. “The automation and LED curing help us do more with the same crew,” added President Vaughn Martini, underscoring the labor efficiencies critical in today’s market. By investing in two RMGT presses in consecutive years, Forest Printing signals a clear, long-term commitment to high-performance offset as the foundation for growth, consistency, and profitability.
