Advance Paper Box – Packaging Spectrum, a folding carton manufacturer based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, will install a new Koenig & Bauer Rapida 106 nine-color press beginning in late April 2026. The press has been specially configured to support the growing demand for premium packaging with advanced visual effects and complex finishing. The system features eight printing units followed by a coating unit capable of both aqueous and UV coatings, two dryer units, an additional printing unit, and a final coating station. This configuration allows the company to produce high-end folding cartons with special finishes—such as tactile coatings, soft-touch varnishes, and strike-through effects—in a single production pass.
The new press will replace an older system from another manufacturer and represents a significant step in modernizing the company’s production platform. Equipped with advanced automation, integrated pallet logistics, and digital tools such as the Visual Energy monitoring system and the AI-driven myKyana performance platform, the Rapida 106 will improve efficiency, scheduling flexibility, and throughput. Together with the company’s existing Rapida 145 press, the new installation will enable Advance Paper Box to optimize job allocation based on format, run length, and substrate, strengthening its ability to serve premium packaging brands across North America.
