Agfa appointed Andy Clifton as head of innovation at its Agfa Inkjet Solutions business, where he will lead the company’s global research and development activities. In his new role, Clifton will report to Vincent Wille, president of Digital Printing Solutions. Agfa said Clifton will be responsible for further strengthening the company’s innovation strategy by integrating development efforts across inks, printing equipment, and software platforms. The appointment underscores Agfa’s focus on advancing digital inkjet technologies through coordinated, end-to-end R&D rather than isolated product development.
Clifton brings more than 30 years of experience in the digital printing industry, having held a range of senior technical and leadership positions during his career. Agfa described him as an internationally experienced leader with a strong track record in developing new technological capabilities and translating innovation into commercially successful products. According to the company, Clifton is recognised for his strategic mindset and his ability to define long-term technology visions, manage complex technical challenges, and convert research outcomes into tangible business value. His background spans both scientific research and commercial product development within digital printing.
Clifton holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Bath, with early academic work focused on advanced materials and sensor technologies. Agfa said his blend of scientific expertise and industry experience will play a key role in shaping the next phase of innovation across its inkjet portfolio.
