Asahi Photoproducts has officially launched its groundbreaking AWP™-CLFQ water-wash flexographic plate, marking a major milestone in sustainable flexo printing. Certified by Esko on October 27 during AWP Days 2025 in Japan, AWP™-CLFQ is the first solvent-free flexo plate to meet the precision demands of Esko Quartz imaging, delivering gravure-like quality with Asahi’s CleanPrint productivity and environmental benefits.
Designed for flexible packaging and compatible with both Esko Quartz and Crystal MCWSI workflows, AWP™-CLFQ enables pixel-level dot formation that translates into sharp highlights, dense solids, and smooth fades to zero. “AWP™-CLFQ gives converters a decisive reason to switch from gravure to flexo,” said Aki Kato, Senior General Manager of the Photoproducts Division. “By combining the precision of Esko Quartz with the productivity of Asahi’s CleanPrint, we deliver a level of quality and process consistency previously exclusive to gravure, now with a sustainable solventless workflow.” The plate’s gravure-type performance and compatibility with both PU-solvent and water-based inks make it a strong option not just for wide-web flexible packaging, but also for narrow-web UV flexo printers
