Asahi Photoproducts will showcase the latest evolution of its AWP Ecosystem at Labelexpo Europe 2025 in Barcelona, highlighting a compact, solvent-free solution tailored for small-format flexographic printers. Presented at partner Gallus booths 3E23 and 3E29, the AWP Ecosystem represents a key milestone in Asahi’s “Solvent ZERO” strategy, offering water-based flexo plate processing with no detergents and up to 90% water reuse. This modular system includes the AWP water-washable photopolymer plate, the AWP-2530AA Plate Processor, and the AWP-LOOP Petite closed-loop recycling unit featuring Microza membrane filtration.
The fully integrated system significantly reduces environmental impact while improving press uptime and overall production efficiency. The AWP plate delivers fine detail and high solid ink density without VOC solvents, while the compact plate processor ensures ease of use for short-run, high-quality label jobs. Meanwhile, the AWP-LOOP Petite recycles up to 90% of water used in the process, lowering operating costs and minimizing wastewater. The first commercial installation of the detergent-free solution is already in place at The Oldham Group in the United States, with broader availability expected soon.
Asahi will also preview a new AWP FlatTop plate designed to meet the demands of high-end label and flexible packaging applications. Compatible with advanced screening and laser imaging technologies, the plate produces sharp detail and rich solids for premium print performance. Looking ahead, Asahi plans to expand the AWP-LOOP technology to accommodate larger format platemaking, continuing its drive toward more sustainable, high-quality flexo production.
