BVDM Launches Industry-Specific Sustainability Reporting Platform for Print and Media Companies

The German Printing and Media Industries Federation has expanded its sustainability initiatives by launching industry-specific content on the new German Sustainability Code online platform. Since March 2, printing and media companies have been able to use the free DNK platform to create voluntary sustainability reports through a structured, step-by-step process aligned with the VSME standard recommended by the European Commission.

The platform includes clearly worded questions, practical guidance, and supporting resources designed to simplify the reporting process. Printing and media companies receive additional sector-specific explanations and examples that automatically appear when businesses identify themselves using the appropriate NACE classification for the printing sector.

The content was developed by a BVDM project group in collaboration with member companies, bringing real operational experience into the reporting framework. Although mandatory reporting requirements will apply primarily to very large corporations under new EU regulations, voluntary reporting is becoming increasingly important for smaller and mid-sized companies seeking to demonstrate sustainability performance and meet information requests from customers, banks, and insurers.
