Caldera announced a major reorganization of its software portfolio, aligning its products with the needs of today’s fast-evolving digital print market. Historically known for distinct RIP offerings such as GrandRIP and VisualRIP, the company revealed at Printing United that all RIP software will now be unified under one streamlined identity, CalderaRIP. From this unified foundation, customers can now choose between perpetual licensing or subscription licensing, each available in three clear tiers: Essentials for smaller shops, Pro for mid-range environments, and Max for high-volume production including flatbed and advanced finishing. Notably, every tier includes the full Caldera feature set, removing the previous need to pay extra to unlock high-end capabilities such as profiling or advanced color management. Tier selection now depends solely on printer size and production needs, allowing shops to scale without switching platforms.
Caldera’s General Manager, Samin Sarkar, emphasized the strategic focus behind the restructure. “We are heralding the next phase of professional print software: global in scale, local in service, and simplified in product structure.” Vice President of Marketing, Sebastien Hanssens, added that the shift aligns Caldera’s global presence with regional customer expectations. “Thinking globally but acting locally is what we do well. Ensuring that customers have local support they recognize and trust has become central to Caldera’s strategic philosophy.” The strong engagement at Printing United reinforced the market’s enthusiasm for Caldera’s new direction.
The company also introduced CalderaRIP Version 19, which delivers new automation capabilities tailored to multilayer production—a rising requirement for labels, POS, and industrial decoration. Version 19 reads multilayer data more intelligently, cutting setup time and improving alignment across varnish, white, and specialty layers. When paired with PrimeCenter 4.4, job preparation becomes even more automated, managing nesting, layer metadata, cut paths, and sequencing while CalderaRIP executes production with precision.
To help customers adopt this workflow more easily, Caldera now offers the PrimeRIP Bundle, combining CalderaRIP V19 with PrimeCenter’s automated job-prep environment as part of its subscription offering. By reducing manual operator intervention, the bundle supports unattended printing and offers measurable ROI in environments facing skilled labor shortages.
Version 19 also incorporates Adobe PDF Print Engine 7, delivering the latest rendering and color-processing capabilities from Adobe, including sharper gradients, improved transparency handling, and enhanced output predictability. Additional updates include full compatibility with macOS Tahoe 26, enabling smoother collaboration for design teams working across modern Apple systems. Together, Caldera’s simplified product structure and the technological advancements in Version 19 position the platform as a scalable, automation-forward solution for modern print businesses seeking clarity, efficiency, and long-term growth.
