Canon U.S.A., Inc. announced the appointment of Hiroto Kato as President and CEO of Canon Canada Inc., marking a key leadership transition within the company’s North American operations. Kato joins the Canadian organization after serving as Vice President of Imaging Products and Solutions at Canon U.S.A., bringing extensive experience across both corporate and regional roles within the Canon group.
Kato began his career at Canon Inc. in 1997 and has spent 29 years progressing through senior leadership positions in both Japan and the United States. His career includes an earlier tenure at Canon U.S.A. from 2009 to 2013, followed by a return to Canon Inc., where he advanced through the ranks before rejoining Canon U.S.A. in 2022. He was promoted to Vice President in 2023, positioning him for this latest leadership role.
“I am honored to join the talented team at Canon Canada,” said Kato, emphasizing his focus on supporting customers and contributing to local communities. He succeeds Mikio Takagi, who has moved into the role of President and COO of Canon China Co., Ltd. Canon leadership described the transition as an important step in maintaining momentum, with Sammy Kobayashi, President and CEO of Canon U.S.A., noting that Kato’s experience and vision will help strengthen the company’s foundation and support continued growth.
