Canon Launches corrPRESS iB17, Its First Digital Press for the Corrugated Industry

Canon announced the launch of the corrPRESS iB17, a groundbreaking digital press purpose-built for the corrugated packaging industry. Unveiled at FEFCO 2025, the new system represents Canon’s bold entry into a segment where converters are under pressure to meet shorter production runs, faster delivery times, and increased customization demands without compromising quality or cost efficiency. The corrPRESS iB17 is engineered to give packaging producers the digital freedom to print what they need, when they need it—combining speed, flexibility, and premium image quality in one powerful solution.

The press enables direct digital printing with water-based inks and primer onto corrugated board, achieving offset-like quality for production volumes up to 15 million square meters per year. It responds to shifting market dynamics, where packaging must not only protect and promote, but also effectively communicate brand values, including sustainability. As one FEFCO speaker noted, “Consumers now view packaging as a benchmark for environmental responsibility—and corrugated remains one of the strongest options.” The corrPRESS iB17 answers this trend by delivering sustainable, high-quality digital output in quantities that make sense for both brands and converters.

Canon showcased the corrPRESS iB17 with a 3D model, technical animations, and application samples at Booth D15–D17 in Rome, offering visitors a firsthand look at its capabilities. The system reflects Canon’s commitment to driving innovation in packaging by merging digital printing expertise with the evolving needs of converters. EMEA customers will be the first to experience the new press, as Canon continues to expand its packaging portfolio and enable the future of on-demand, high-quality corrugated production.
