Canva announced the acquisitions of MangoAI and Cavalry, marking a significant step in its evolution from an everyday design tool into a comprehensive visual communications platform. Cavalry brings professional-grade 2D animation and motion design into Canva’s expanding ecosystem, complementing the Affinity suite for photo, vector, and layout editing. The addition closes a key gap for professional designers seeking integrated motion workflows without relying on fragmented tools.
MangoAI strengthens Canva’s AI-driven marketing capabilities by connecting creative output directly to performance data. The company’s expertise in data intelligence and reinforcement learning enables systems that learn from campaign results and continuously optimize future content. As part of the acquisition, former Netflix VP of Data Science Nirmal Govind joins Canva as its first Chief Algorithms Officer, alongside Vinith Misra, who will lead reinforcement learning within Canva’s Research Lab.
Together, these acquisitions reinforce Canva’s vision of a unified Creative OS that blends professional creative control with intelligent automation. By combining advanced motion tools, AI personalization, and marketing performance insights, Canva aims to empower teams and designers to move seamlessly from idea to impact in a rapidly evolving visual landscape.
