Complete Design & Packaging (CDP) has added a new Koenig & Bauer Allpro 145 folder gluer to its Concord, NC manufacturing site, enabling the company to accelerate turnaround times, eliminate post-press bottlenecks, and support high-volume growth. Operating alongside an existing Allpro machine, the new gluer allows CDP to run identical jobs in tandem, significantly reducing lead times while enhancing the flexibility to handle both in- and outfold tray designs—especially in E and B flute substrates. “We’ve dramatically increased our speed to market and attained much higher efficiency,” says Keith Furr, general manager at CDP.
The machine’s modular design has given the plant newfound versatility, with plant manager Bryan Allman noting a better division of labor—such as running auto-bottom jobs on one gluer and straight-line on the other. An unexpected bonus has been the ability to produce specialized outfold trays, used in complex Z-fold packaging. Backed by a major footprint that includes 110,000 sq ft of manufacturing, 85,000 sq ft of distribution, and a 100,000 sq ft fulfillment center, CDP continues to scale with cutting-edge equipment to meet growing demand. “The new Koenig & Bauer Allpro 145 is giving us an outstanding return on our investment,” says Allman.
