Chromasens Launches High-Performance Inspection System for Digital Printing

Digital printing has become the go-to choice for small and mid-sized runs thanks to its flexibility, fast turnaround, and cost efficiency compared to traditional offset. Yet with higher-value jobs and variable data output, automated inspection remains critical. While built-in sensors and spectrophotometers help ensure color accuracy, defects such as banding, streaking, smudging, or nozzle blockages require advanced optical inspection. Chromasens addressed this need with an engineered solution that combines a high-resolution line scan camera, advanced illumination, and intelligent control to detect problems early, minimizing waste and customer dissatisfaction.

At the core of the system is the Chromasens allPIXA evo 15k DXGE, a dual 10 GigE line scan camera that delivers up to 49 kHz line rates from its 15k Quadlinear CMOS sensor. Designed for digital print inspection, the camera supports multiple trigger options, color conversion, and simple integration with an SDK for Windows and Linux. To ensure precise imaging, Chromasens pairs it with its Corona II Bright Field illumination system, producing ultra-high intensity light with patented reflector technology, water cooling, and a compact form factor suited to limited space near the print head. Bright, stable lighting ensures accurate exposure and contrast at fast scan speeds.

The solution is completed by the XLC4 LED Controller, which provides high continuous power, fast flash rates, and temperature monitoring, along with optional adapters and lenses to tailor setups for different environments. Together, these components create a robust inspection system for offset, flexo, web, and digital presses. With decades of expertise in line scan technology, Chromasens is positioning its inspection system as a key enabler for higher quality, reduced reprints, and more efficient digital print workflows.
