EMT International Expands Dynamic Perforating to Support Heavy Inkjet Substrates

EMT International announced the availability of a new heavy-duty dynamic perforating solution engineered for today’s evolving digital print environment. As inkjet production continues to expand into thicker and more diverse substrates, EMT said the new solution addresses a critical finishing challenge by enabling high-quality perforation on materials up to 18-point at full production speeds.

The technology builds on EMT’s established expertise in dynamic perforating, combining software-driven control, advanced motion systems, and robust mechanical design. Perforation patterns can be changed on the fly through software, eliminating mechanical changeovers and allowing printers to adapt quickly to different jobs. The solution is designed for both inline and nearline configurations, supporting seamless integration with modern inkjet presses and existing finishing lines.

According to Jordan Geurts, Vice President of Technology & Solutions at EMT International, the new perforator reflects the realities of next-generation digital print. He noted that printers are increasingly producing applications such as lottery tickets, fanfold products, transactional documents, direct mail, and specialty pieces on heavier stocks. EMT said the new system allows printers to choose thicker substrates without compromising finishing performance, extending the role of dynamic perforating as digital print applications continue to diversify.
