Epson Australia Releases Second Sustainability Impact Report Highlighting Progress Across ANZ

Epson Australia released its second Sustainability Impact Report, reinforcing its commitment to responsible business practices and transparent communication around its environmental and social initiatives across Australia and New Zealand. Managing Director Craig Heckenberg said the report demonstrates both progress and ambition, highlighting how the organisation works with global teams, customers and partners to address sustainability challenges while embedding environmental responsibility into local strategy and decision-making.

The report details a number of measurable achievements for the period ending March 2025. Epson completed a full review of its value-chain emissions and established a near-term national reduction target aligned with the company’s global Science Based Targets initiative goal of cutting total Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 55 percent by 2030. A 25 percent reduction in electricity usage was achieved following the relocation of the Sydney head office to a smaller, more energy-efficient site in North Sydney, which also enabled hybrid working and reduced the physical footprint by 60 percent. All Epson facilities in Australia and New Zealand continue to operate on 100 percent renewable electricity.

Epson Australia also reports advances in circularity and waste reduction. Operational waste decreased by 29 percent through cardboard reuse and reduced pallet disposal at the Sydney warehouse. More than 21 tonnes of Epson cartridges were collected and recycled via Cartridge 4 Planet Ark, contributing to a zero-waste-to-landfill program. Additional efforts highlight support for product stewardship, electronic waste collection and initiatives that reduce environmental impact across customer operations.

The report further highlights Epson’s role in supporting key industries with sustainability-focused technology, including on-demand printing solutions for fashion and textiles. Epson co-launched the Victorian Textile, Clothing and Footwear Manufacturing Report with the Australian Fashion Council and RMIT University, offering a strategic roadmap aimed at revitalising local manufacturing through productivity improvements and waste reduction. Community engagement also remains central, with Epson contributing 168 hours of employee volunteer time since its first report.

Epson notes that sustainability is now fully integrated into its operational approach and stakeholder accountability. The full Sustainability Impact Report is available at epson.com.au/Impact-Report.
