The FESPA Foundation is inviting members of the print community and beyond to join its Mandela Day 2025 initiative, encouraging individuals and companies to dedicate 67 minutes of service to uplift under-resourced schools across South Africa. This year’s campaign focuses on five partner schools, including Malekapane Primary School in Limpopo, where volunteers can assist with distributing donated exhibition materials, improving learning environments, and engaging directly with students. The initiative forms part of the Foundation’s mission to repurpose exhibition waste and support education in rural communities, aligning sustainability with social impact.
Founded in 2024 by FESPA CEO Neil Felton, the FESPA Foundation’s work is already making a difference, with its first project at Evane Intermediate School in KwaZulu-Natal showcased as a model of positive community engagement. A new container of repurposed materials from one of FESPA’s largest exhibitions in Germany has recently arrived in South Africa, ready for distribution with the help of volunteers. Industry veteran Steve Thobela, known for his leadership roles in both Printing SA and non-profit organisations, is spearheading local coordination and is available to support participating teams with guidance and motivational talks.
Printing SA is proud to support the initiative, encouraging its members and industry partners to get involved and turn Mandela Day into a collective act of service that benefits young learners. Companies can register to participate by contacting Steve Thobela directly, helping to create lasting educational opportunities while strengthening team connections and contributing to environmental sustainability.
