Flying Colours and Kornit Digital Set New Standards for Mass Digital Apparel Production

As the print industry accelerates toward on-demand, sustainable, and creatively limitless solutions, Flying Colours and Kornit Digital are proving that digital printing isn’t just a complement to screen printing—it’s the future. With over 30 years of expertise in complex colour separations and file preparation, Flying Colours has partnered with Kornit Digital to demonstrate how screen-printing precision can be transformed through Kornit’s Mass Digital Production technology. “Digital printing is no longer just an alternative, it’s a new standard for quality, speed, and creativity,” said Engin Ibrahim, founder of Flying Colours.

At Kornit’s Düsseldorf facility, the two teams rigorously tested and refined digital workflows to match the visual richness of screen printing while drastically improving production efficiency. A key outcome was a 50% reduction in ink usage on detailed photographic designs, achieved through intelligent Under Colour Removal (UCR) without compromising quality. “By focusing on one complex image first, we could perfect the workflow then expand it across multiple designs. The prints speak for themselves,” said Jason Beevor, Studio Manager at Flying Colours. The success of the initiative not only highlights the capability of Kornit’s MAX technology—including neon effects, XDi 3D textures, and seamless gradients—but also supports a more sustainable production model that aligns with the future of fashion and textile manufacturing.
