Harrison Packaging Transforms with Koenig & Bauer Technology

In a strategic move to increase flexibility and efficiency, Harrison Packaging has partnered with Koenig & Bauer to overhaul its production setup, installing a highly customized Rapida 106 X press and Omega Allpro 110 folder gluer. Under the leadership of owner Craig Turnbull, the company has transitioned from outdated equipment to future-ready technology tailored for shorter runs and diverse substrates. “We are not a mass production company… short makeready times are crucial to our profitability,” said Turnbull, emphasizing the need for adaptable, high-speed performance.

The Rapida 106 X, with eight inking units and dual coaters, supports daily high-speed output at 20,000 sph, while the Omega Allpro 110 allows Harrison to expand beyond solid board into microflute packaging—opening new markets. With features like modified fold sections, intuitive controls, and integrated quality control, the system delivers high net output with minimal waste. For Koenig & Bauer, the project highlights its consultative approach to helping printers innovate beyond machinery. “This is the key to standing out from the competition in a dynamic market,” noted Chris Scully, Managing Director of Koenig & Bauer UK.
