Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG announced the early extension of the contracts of CEO Jürgen Otto and Chief Sales and Technology Officer Dr. David Schmedding. The new terms will take effect July 1, 2026, with Otto’s contract running through July 2029 and Schmedding’s extending to June 2031. The decision by the Supervisory Board is intended to provide stability at the top of the organization as the company continues its strategic transformation.
Since the current executive team took office in July 2024, HEIDELBERG has pursued a shift from a traditional print media company toward a more diversified technology provider. Under the leadership of Otto and Schmedding, the company has advanced initiatives across its core print and packaging business while exploring opportunities in adjacent technology segments. The Supervisory Board cited progress in strategic repositioning and financial flexibility as key factors behind the early contract renewals.
“The early contract extension is an expression of our confidence and a clear commitment to continuity and stability,” said Supervisory Board Chairman Dr. Martin Sonnenschein. Both executives emphasized their intention to continue driving transformation by expanding technological capabilities and delivering greater value to customers. The move signals HEIDELBERG’s intent to maintain leadership consistency as it navigates evolving market demands and long-term growth opportunities.
