Heidelberg UK and Celessence Bring Scent to Print

HEIDELBERG UK has joined forces with Celessence™, a global leader in fragrance microencapsulation, to offer scent-enhanced printing solutions that engage sight, touch, and now smell. Using Celessence’s technology, fragrances are embedded in microcapsules that release scent when the printed surface is touched. “Scent creates memories,” said Grant Anderson, Head of Consumables at HEIDELBERG UK, noting the partnership will empower brands to create emotionally resonant print experiences. The technology supports a variety of printing methods—including litho, screen, and flexo—and is effective for both short runs and high-volume applications such as books, packaging, puzzles, and POS displays. Their Ultra Coat formulation delivers strong scent release, even on synthetics, while meeting strict environmental standards like REACH exemption, ZDHC Level 3, and Oekotex compliance. With this collaboration, HEIDELBERG aims to help clients stand out in an increasingly digital world by reimagining what print can do.
