HP Indigo Brings Robotics to the Pressroom with AMRs to Power Nonstop Digital Printing

HP Indigo is advancing its vision of Nonstop Digital Printing by introducing automated mobile robots developed in collaboration with MoviĜo Robotics. Unveiled at Dscoop Edge Rockies in Denver, the new systems are designed to automate the movement of materials across the production floor, enabling presses, workflows, and finishing operations to run with minimal manual intervention.

For the first time, HP will directly sell and support robotic material-handling solutions as part of its portfolio, integrating automation beyond the press itself. The AMR lineup includes systems designed to transport B2 pallets, postal pallets, carts, and racks, along with the new Sharko 5 RT model tailored for roll-fed environments across HP Indigo labels and packaging presses and HP PageWide inkjet systems.

By automating the flow of substrates and finished jobs between production stages, the robots address one of the most persistent bottlenecks in high-volume print environments. The initiative reflects a broader industry shift, where automation is no longer limited to printing and workflow software but is extending into physical production logistics, enabling smarter, more efficient, and increasingly autonomous print manufacturing.
