interpack 2026 Sharpens Focus on Pharma Production and Packaging

interpack 2026 is positioning itself as a critical platform for the pharmaceutical industry at a time when production demands are being fundamentally reshaped. By concentrating the sector into three dedicated halls, the exhibition creates a clearer view of the full value chain—from processing to packaging—while allowing visitors to evaluate technologies, materials, and workflows in direct context. With nearly 40,000 square meters of exhibition space, major players including IMA, Fette Compacting, Uhlmann, Marchesini, Körber Pharma, and OPTIMA will present solutions aimed at one of the fastest-evolving manufacturing sectors in print-adjacent packaging and processing.

The central theme is unmistakable: automation and sustainability are no longer separate priorities. As biologics, cell and gene therapies, and highly potent compounds become more prevalent, pharmaceutical manufacturers are investing heavily in connected production systems, AI-enabled intelligence, traceability, and recyclable packaging formats. As Thomas Fricke of IMA explains, “The pharma industry is undergoing major pressure due to the rise of biologics, Cell & Gene therapies and highly potent compounds, all of which require more advanced, flexible and connected technologies.” The exhibitors’ response ranges from gloveless sterile filling lines and AI-driven predictive maintenance to recyclable blister solutions and continuous manufacturing systems. For the industry, interpack 2026 will be less about equipment alone and more about how end-to-end integration, compliance, and sustainability converge into a scalable manufacturing strategy.
