HP Japan Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Nobuki Okado) is pleased to announce that eight HP digital printing solutions are in operation at a digital book manufacturing facility in Tokorozawa Sakura Town, a large cultural complex in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture, operated by KADOKAWA Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takeshi Natsuno; hereinafter referred to as "KADOKAWA"), contributing to the realization of KADOKAWA's "Publishing, Manufacturing and Distribution DX Project".

KADOKAWA's "Publishing, Manufacturing and Distribution DX Project", which aims to deliver "the books that are needed, to the people who need them, when they need them", has exceeded 30 million copies in total (as of January 2025) through digital manufacturing. By realizing small-lot printing from 100 copies, short-term manufacturing and delivery, profit margins have improved due to reduced lost sales opportunities, returns and waste, and the consumption of unnecessary resources has been reduced, contributing to the conservation of the global environment.

The digital book production facility is equipped with a total of eight HP digital presses, including the HP PageWide Web Press T490M HD, HP Indigo 50000 Digital Press, and HP Indigo 15K HD Digital Press, to quickly produce the right amount of books to meet the diverse needs of readers. By actively utilizing the HP PrintOS application, which simplifies and automates the printing production process, the performance of the HP digital presses is maximized, and the entire production process is efficiently managed from data transmission to a workflow management system specialized for bookbinding and post-processing machines and publishing. Currently, the main text, frontispieces, covers, and obi for paperbacks, light novels, new books, comics, and literary books are all digitally printed.
