Koenig & Bauer’s senior leadership team recently visited Ultimate Paperbox's (UPBX) Los Angeles facility, a custom packaging manufacturer specializing in folding carton production. The visit brought together executives, including CEO Dr. Stephen M. Kimmich and Markus Weiss, Managing Director and CEO of Koenig & Bauer Sheetfed, for a detailed tour of UPBX’s operations and a review of their ongoing partnership. The engagement provided an opportunity for both companies to exchange insights on production performance and evolving customer requirements in the packaging sector.
During the tour, UPBX showcased its latest investments, including a fourth Koenig & Bauer Rapida 106 sheetfed press, configured as an eight-color LED system to support high-speed production and fast turnaround times. The company also demonstrated enhancements in its postpress capabilities, highlighting a new AllPro 110 folder gluer designed to increase efficiency in folding and gluing operations. Together, these technologies reflect UPBX’s focus on scaling production while maintaining high levels of quality control.
The visit also included discussions on broader trends shaping the folding carton market, particularly the growing demand for sustainable packaging and premium print quality. UPBX President Janak Patel shared insights into customer expectations and future requirements, reinforcing the importance of combining advanced press technology with efficient postpress workflows. For Koenig & Bauer, the visit underscores the value of close collaboration with customers as the industry continues to evolve toward higher productivity, automation, and sustainability in packaging production.
