Koenig & Bauer (US/CA) Expands Apprenticeship Program

Koenig & Bauer (US/CA) has officially opened applications for its 2026 apprenticeship program, continuing a tradition of hands-on training, global immersion, and career advancement now entering its seventh year. With six apprentices currently enrolled, the program remains a cornerstone of the company’s workforce development strategy—offering a unique combination of competitive pay, travel opportunities, and technical training on Koenig & Bauer’s latest printing technologies, both in the U.S. and at its factory in Germany.

“What makes our program stand out above the others is that our trainees are acquiring knowledge on the most technologically advanced printing equipment, while living in Germany, and learning to speak German with their factory counterparts,” said Chris Talbert, COO of Koenig & Bauer (US/CA). From language immersion to pre-assembly work in the factory’s Assembly Hall, apprentices spend a year split into two six-month training blocks in Germany, supported by mentoring and field training back in the U.S.

As the 2026 cohort recruiting ramps up, Koenig & Bauer is expanding its outreach beyond Texas to include technical schools in the Northeast and upper Midwest, targeting mechanically inclined students in disciplines like Mechatronics, Aviation, and Wind Energy. With alumni like Kaitlin Sullivan and Flavio Tello-Saenz now excelling in technical and support roles, the program continues to deliver on its promise of producing the next generation of skilled print professionals.
