KURZ, Götz + Müller, and Jägermeister Showcase Sustainable Label Production

KURZ partnered with Mast-Jägermeister SE and Götz + Müller GmbH on a sustainability-focused label project that reflects the shared goal of advancing a practical circular economy in the graphics sector. The beverage producer challenged the team to develop a label that maintained Jägermeister’s distinctive brand aesthetic while reducing environmental impact at every stage of production.

To meet that requirement, the partners selected KURZ’s shiny gold KPS slim 2.0 for the embellishment. The material features a carrier reduced from the standard 12 microns to just 6 microns, immediately cutting resource consumption while preserving the high-quality finish expected of a global premium brand. The decoration was applied using a cold transfer process, a method that minimizes energy use and material waste compared to conventional techniques.

The collaboration extended into post-production through the use of KURZ’s RECOSYS 2.0 recycling system. Carrier residues collected after label manufacturing were transformed into RECOSYS rPET, a secondary raw material suitable for applications such as new carrier films, yarns and secondary packaging, including technical textiles used in automotive and industrial markets.

By integrating reduced-material embellishment, low-energy processing and a functional recycling loop, the project demonstrates how sustainability can be embedded throughout a packaging workflow. For KURZ and its partners, the initiative affirms that premium embellishment can now deliver both visual impact and tangible environmental benefits.
