Swiss Media House rubmedia Installs HEIDELBERG Jetfire 50 and Versafire LV to Drive Digital Growth

Swiss media house rubmedia expanded its production capabilities with the installation of the HEIDELBERG Jetfire 50 and Versafire LV, establishing a compact and highly automated digital printing line at its new Köniz facility near Bern. The company, which employs 35 people, specialises in creative communication for service providers, associations, and public- and private-sector organisations. The move is part of an internal transformation initiative focused on cost-effective, flexible, and high-quality production for personalised applications and short runs.

The combined Jetfire and Versafire systems, integrated with Prinect Business Manager and Prinect Production Manager, form an end-to-end workflow that covers order entry through postpress. rubmedia said the goal was to centralise production within a single ecosystem, ensuring consistency and automation across the whole print lifecycle. The Versafire LV will continue to handle standard products such as business cards, envelopes, and flyers, while the Jetfire 50 addresses high-value personalised output.

“We decided on the digital printing solutions from HEIDELBERG because we were impressed by the company’s wide-ranging service promise and the systems’ suitability for integration into an overall workflow with Prinect,” said Michel Kläy, Deputy Managing Director and Partner at rubmedia. “Automation enables orders to be processed quickly, reduces paper waste, and delivers a level of quality that matches offset printing.”

Dr. David Schmedding, Chief Technology & Sales Officer at HEIDELBERG, noted that the installation demonstrates the momentum behind the company’s digital portfolio. “The latest Jetfire system to be successfully installed in Switzerland underlines the strength of our industrial portfolio. Our customers are increasingly impressed by our digital ecosystem, especially for applications involving personalized and high-quality short runs,” he said.

The investment positions rubmedia to meet growing demand for personalised print and shorter turnaround times while enhancing operational efficiency and production control.
