Markzware announced the release of OmniMarkz SE v4.2 for Windows, introducing support for Microsoft Publisher (.pub) files in response to customer demand and the platform’s upcoming end of life in October 2026. The update is designed to help organizations maintain access to legacy Publisher content while transitioning to more modern and flexible production environments. By enabling file conversion and reuse, the release addresses a growing need among enterprises, printers, and institutions managing large volumes of archived design assets.
The new version features a drag-and-drop workflow that allows users to import .pub files and convert them into IDML format for editing in applications such as Adobe InDesign, Affinity, and QuarkXPress. Markzware positions this capability as a way to avoid manual recreation of documents, preserving elements such as text, images, layout structure, and visual relationships. “OmniMarkz SE eliminates the need to rebuild documents from scratch,” said customer Adam Freill, highlighting the cost and time savings associated with the approach.
Beyond basic file conversion, Markzware emphasizes the ability to transform static documents into reusable, structured content suitable for modern workflows, including search, content management, and AI-enabled applications. “With Publisher reaching end of life in October 2026, organizations need more than a basic way to access existing .pub files,” said Patrick Marchese, Founder and CEO of Markzware. The release also includes an online conversion option via MarkzPortal and integration paths for Canva-based workflows, reinforcing the company’s focus on helping organizations preserve and extend the value of existing content assets.
