Meridian strengthened its commercial print production capabilities by installing a four-color RMGT 970 perfecting press equipped with LED curing at its Loves Park, Illinois, facility. The installation, completed in 2025 through Graphco, reflects Meridian’s strategy of investing in right-sized, high-performance equipment that maximizes efficiency without the footprint and cost of larger 40-inch platforms. The 25" x 38" RMGT 970 allows Meridian to produce the vast majority of its general commercial work on a single, highly versatile press.

Configured as both a two-over-two perfector and a four-color straight press, the RMGT 970 delivers production flexibility critical in today’s short-run, fast-turn environment. With perfecting speeds up to 15,000 sheets per hour and RMGT’s double/double/single-diameter cylinder mechanism, the press provides precise sheet control at high speeds. According to Meridian’s operations leadership, the ability to switch seamlessly between configurations has transformed workflow efficiency, enabling single-pass duplex production and rapid job changeovers across a diverse customer mix.

The integration of Benford LED curing further enhances production throughput. Sheets exit the press instantly dry, eliminating traditional bottlenecks between press and finishing and reducing turnaround times. In addition to performance gains, the LED system reduces energy consumption and removes the need for spray powder, contributing to a cleaner, more cost-efficient pressroom. For Meridian, the RMGT 970 Perfector now serves as a central production platform, combining speed, flexibility, and operational efficiency to support continued growth in the competitive Midwest commercial print market.
