In addition, MiniCABS offers a wide range of applications and hybrid solutions, enabling the production of books from both offset and digital workflows. Alongside the folding sheet collator configuration, roll-to-bookblock and cutsheet-to-bookblock systems can also be integrated. This is made possible by the LBF-500 book block feeder, which can process various types of book blocks, including loose-leaf stacks, folded signatures, side-glued blocks, or thread-sewn book blocks. In edition mode with consistent book thickness, up to 750 book blocks per hour can be fed; in variable production with thickness variations of less than 5 mm, output reaches up to 700 book blocks per hour.
When combined with the ESF-1000 endpaper feeder and the GF-500 gauze unit, the system can produce not only softcover books but also book blocks for hardcover production. The space-saving GF-500 gauze unit fully automates the preparation of the gauze strip: both length and width are cut, fed, and pressed automatically according to the book block data. Setup and activation of the gauze unit are fully automated via the BQ-500 touchscreen, enabling quick changeovers between softcover and hardcover production without manual intervention. The ESF-1000 applies folded endpapers to the book block using hotmelt adhesive. Standard thickness measurement prior to infeed allows the processing of varying book thicknesses from book to book.
