Morgana, part of the Plockmatic Group, introduced the SC7800 Pro RSXL, the latest model in its ColorCut SC series, at Printing United Expo in Orlando. The new system introduces reverse-side creasing to digital finishing for the first time, setting a new benchmark for precision and versatility in short-run carton and packaging applications. Capable of cutting and creasing B2 and larger sheets, the SC7800 Pro RSXL will begin shipping early next year.
Unlike previous models, the SC7800 incorporates a tangential creasing tool with both male and female components to achieve fold quality comparable to traditional die-based creasing. It can crease both the top and reverse sides of the sheet, resulting in a superior finish, especially valuable for packaging production. The technology, which operates on substrates up to 450 microns and sheets up to 740 x 545 mm, is supported by a series of patents.
The system uses Plockmatic’s SmartMark registration technology, automatically identifying each sheet via printed QR code and retrieving cutting profiles through the ColorCut Pro software. This enables continuous operation through up to 1,000 sheets without interruption. Morgana’s latest development builds on its existing range of ColorCut systems, from the entry-level SC5000 through the SC6000 and SC7000 series, and forms part of a broader product refresh planned over the next year. The company also introduced the new DigiCoater Pro 400 in Orlando, a flood coater that reduces power consumption by 40% through LED UV curing technology, improving safety and energy efficiency.
