Norske Skog Skogn is set to enter the European book paper market in Q2 2026 with its new product line, NOR Book, targeting standard grades in bulk, brightness, and shade. “The project development team at Skogn has shown impressive creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. This will diversify the mill’s product portfolio, enable a shift into markets with stable demand outlook, and improve the long-term competitiveness of the mill. We have received very positive feedback from potential customers and look forward to introducing our new product and become a top three supplier of book paper in Europe” says Geir Drangsland, CEO of Norske Skog. Backed by a NOK 40 million (EUR 3.5 million) investment and developed in partnership with ANDRITZ, the Skogn mill’s PM1 will gain the flexibility to switch between newsprint and book paper, offering more than 140,000 tonnes of capacity. With a move to 100% virgin fibre in 2024 and low CO₂ emissions, the mill is positioned to supply high-quality, sustainable book paper to a stable 400,000-tonne European market. The transition will not disrupt current newsprint deliveries, though some export volumes to Asia will decrease.
