QT2 Boosts Laminating Power with Foliant Taurus 530NG from Graphco

QT2 has significantly upgraded its finishing capabilities with the installation of a Foliant Taurus 530NG laminator at its 60,000-square-foot facility in Tiffin, Ohio, addressing rising demand for premium laminated print. The new equipment—supplied by Graphco—is delivering major productivity gains, enabling the company to scale high-volume commercial applications such as catalogs, brochures, and calendars with improved speed and efficiency.

Originally a business forms printer, QT2 has evolved into a high-quality commercial print provider, with approximately 70% of its current output requiring sophisticated finishing. “Soft-touch laminate is a huge part of our offering. It’s what clients expect when they want a premium look and feel,” says Chuck Eingle, CFO. Previously constrained by bottlenecks in their lamination workflow, the Taurus 530NG has proven transformative. “I can knock out 10,000 laminated covers without even thinking twice,” says Bryan Abel, Bindery Supervisor.

The Taurus 530NG is built for heavy-duty commercial use, supporting gloss, matte, soft-touch, and specialty films across digital and offset stocks up to 20.5 inches wide. Features like its automatic sheet feeder and flying knife separator make it ideal for integration into high-throughput bindery workflows. Abel adds, “It laminates cleanly, scores well, and folds beautifully—whether it’s going to perfect binding or saddle stitching.”

Beyond performance, the upgrade has also driven material cost savings. Graphco helped QT2 transition to a thinner Derprosa film that delivers better results at a lower cost. “It’s faster, smoother, and more economical,” Abel notes. Chris Manley, President of Graphco, emphasizes the broader value: “QT2’s implementation shows how the right technology can unlock production capacity and protect margins in a competitive market.” With the Taurus fully integrated, QT2 is now primed for faster turnarounds and continued growth in the premium print space.
