SOMA Showcases Next-Generation Flexo Technologies at Innovation Day 2025

SOMA capped its Autumn Innovations program with Innovation Day 2025, held November 20 at the company’s headquarters in Lanskroun, Czech Republic. Following demonstrations at K 2025, the in-house event brought together around 200 printers, converters, and partners from across the globe for a full day of live production demonstrations, technology showcases, and expert discussions.

At the center of the event was SOMA Color Intelligence, a comprehensive ecosystem designed to deliver perfect, repeatable color on press. The system integrates several key components: Color Mind for fast on-press color correction with reduced waste; SOMA Anilox Management for monitoring anilox condition; Intelligent Viscosity for automatic compensation for temperature-driven fluctuations; and Electric Ink Storm, an energy-saving ink-washing system. Together, these tools offer more stable color performance, higher productivity, and reduced material consumption.

A major highlight was the live demonstration of the Flexo IPU, shown downstream from a SOMA Optima2 press applying a paper-touch varnish in a single pass. The IPU expands the press with additional stations for premium coatings, including soft-touch, matte effects, tactile finishes, barrier layers, and heat-seal varnishes. The demonstration illustrated how converters can efficiently produce high-value packaging while lowering production costs and improving throughput.

SOMA also introduced new enhancements for its S-Mount plate-mounting system. The PDF to Plate Verification feature ensures mounted plates match the intended artwork, while Digital Proofing provides a preview of the final printed image before production begins. These upgrades help reduce setup time, cut waste, and prevent errors that can otherwise disrupt production.

“Autumn Innovations began at K 2025, but Innovation Day is where our partners could see the technologies in full scale, running live, and talk directly with our experts about real applications,” said Garrett Taylor, Sales Director at SOMA North America. “We are proud of the strong international attendance and the positive feedback we received.”

The event underscored SOMA’s continued focus on innovation, workflow intelligence, and the advancement of flexographic printing capabilities for converters worldwide.
