Sustainable Flexo Symposium 2026 to Prove Gravure-Level Quality on Recycled Films in Live CI Flexo Production

On May 5–6, 2026, the Sustainable Flexo Symposium will demonstrate how modern CI flexographic printing can achieve consistent, gravure-level results on recycled and mono-material substrates. Hosted at Follmann’s Technology & Knowledge Centre in Minden, Germany, with live CI production at Allstein in Herford, the event takes place immediately before Interpack 2026 and focuses on production-ready solutions aligned with Europe’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

Live demonstrations will feature reverse and surface printing on transparent OPP, MDO-PE, PCR-based PE films, and paper-based packaging materials using water-based inks and water-wash plate technology. The automation-driven workflow integrates Solvent ZERO plates, precision anilox technology, and inspection systems to ensure repeatable colour consistency and process stability, even on mechanically sensitive recycled structures traditionally associated with gravure.

Complementing the live runs, Tech Talks will address sustainable film design, PCR integration, mono-material structures, inspection strategies, and end-to-end automation across the flexo ecosystem. With participation from Esko, Asahi Photoproducts, Follmann, Pamarco, PetroPlast, OCS, Tesa, and Allstein, the symposium positions CI flexo as a viable, industrial-scale solution for circular flexible packaging production.
