Toyo Ink Europe N.V., the energy-curing inks division of Japan’s artience Group, introduced a comprehensive lineup of ultraviolet-curable inks that comply with the German Printing Ink Ordinance. The portfolio includes UV and UV LED flexographic inks as well as UV offset systems that meet strict migration limits for food packaging applications. After extensive testing across multiple presses and substrates, the systems are positioned to support converters preparing for the January 2027 GIO enforcement date.
According to Ismail Yilmaz, General Manager Sales & Corporate Strategy at Toyo Ink Europe, the company’s analytical and regulatory teams worked closely with five development partners to validate compliance without sacrificing performance. The UV flexo systems were first introduced in mid-2025, followed by the UV offset rollout later in the year, giving converters an early pathway to regulation-ready production while maintaining productivity and print quality.
The GIO-compliant lineup includes Steraflex UV and Steraflex GIO LED for flexographic printing on both absorbent and non-absorbent substrates, along with Steraboard UV and Steraplast UV for offset applications on paper, board, and plastics. The renamed EkoPro LED series further strengthens the company’s LED-compatible offset offering. With low-migration chemistry, fast curing, and broad substrate compatibility, the portfolio supports the growing demand for compliant, food-safe packaging across European markets.
