Second Digital Printing Summit in Dortmund Highlights Digital Transformation of the Printing Industry

On September 10–11, 2025, Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park hosted the second edition of the Digital Printing Summit, drawing over 150 experts and executives from across the printing industry. Following its successful debut in 2024, this year’s event emphasized digitalization and strategic transformation, offering a dynamic mix of keynotes, panels, masterclasses, and networking opportunities. Opening speaker Prof. Dr. Volker Jansen (HdM Stuttgart) explored the future role of print in the digital era, while Bernhard Niemela (Deutscher Drucker/print.de) presented market data and investment trends before moderating a panel on investor participation.

Practical reports from industry leaders provided insight into evolving business models. O/D Group’s Max Spies demonstrated how data-driven services and AI-powered personalization are reshaping programmatic print, while Pinsker Druck’s Axel Schreiner described how investor backing brought professionalism and modern structures to his company. Bender Printing’s Jerome Muszy detailed the launch of nexopack.de, expanding into folding carton packaging with a strong focus on sustainability and customization. Suppliers also weighed in, with experts from Obility, Igepa, and the Postpress Alliance stressing the importance of automation, connected workflows, and supply chain digitalization as foundations for competitive advantage.

Artificial intelligence took center stage with sessions led by Marco Parrillo (Ebner Media Group) and Antonio Javier Perez Vigo (Schreiner Group). Both demonstrated how AI already drives revenue growth, strategy, and real-time production optimization in high-tech printing environments. Beyond the conference program, the “Print & Connect” evening and exhibition booths from leading suppliers created opportunities for hands-on learning and networking. Organizers confirmed the overwhelmingly positive feedback ensures the summit’s return in 2026, further cementing its role as a permanent fixture on the industry’s calendar.
