USPS Announces Shipping Services Rate Increases Effective January 18, 2026

The U.S. Postal Service announced plans to adjust Shipping Services rates beginning January 18, 2026, following approval this week by the USPS Board of Governors. The Postal Regulatory Commission will now review the filing before the new rates take effect. Under the proposal, prices will increase by approximately 6.6% for Priority Mail, 5.1% percent for Priority Mail Express, 7.8% for USPS Ground Advantage and 6.0 percent for Parcel Select.

Importantly, the Postal Service reiterated that there will be no price increase for Mailing Services in January. The price of a First-Class Mail stamp will remain unchanged, consistent with USPS’ earlier announcement. Unlike Mailing Services, which follow consumer price index (CPI) guidelines, Shipping Services rates are adjusted based on market conditions. The Board of Governors stated that the new rates are designed to help the Postal Service remain competitive while generating necessary revenue to support ongoing operational modernization.

The rate changes are aligned with the Postal Service’s broader network transformation plan, which aims to strengthen long-term sustainability and maintain USPS’ public service mission, operating a nationwide, integrated delivery network for mail and packages at least six days per week. The full PRC filing and updated Excel price files have been made available for stakeholders seeking detailed rate information.
