Xaar’s Ultra High Viscosity Technology took center stage in a landmark collaboration with Koenig & Bauer Kammann, resulting in 5,000 uniquely decorated Johnnie Walker bottles for Diageo. Using Kammann’s K15 machine and Marabu’s high-viscosity UV inks, each glass bottle was printed on all four sides with vibrant, tactile artwork—showcasing 50 original pieces by pop artist Andy Gellenberg, further enhanced by generative AI. The limited-edition collection won top honors in the Supreme category at the Digital Labels and Packaging Awards, cementing its impact as a standout example of digital customization.
“By combining our machine expertise with the strengths of both Xaar and Marabu in printhead and ink technology, we’ve enabled an exceptional example of what’s possible with digital print,” said Matthias Graf, Managing Director at Kammann. Xaar’s technology not only enabled rich, high-build decoration but also supported a more sustainable process by reducing material use and curing energy. As consumer demand for personalized products grows, this project demonstrates the power of digital inkjet to deliver high-value, short-run solutions that elevate brand experience.
