Xeikon will kick off its Innovation Days On Tour on 26 and 27 March in Bünde, Germany, in collaboration with Mail Druck + Medien GmbH. The event offers label and packaging professionals a rare opportunity to step onto an active production floor and experience fully digital label manufacturing without plates, dies, or long lead times. Founded in 1934, Mail Druck + Medien has evolved into a digital specialist in self-adhesive labels, pioneering laser cutting and automated workflows that enable efficient short-run and variable production.
Over two days, attendees will observe live production runs and explore how digital workflows, on-site laser finishing, and automation combine to deliver flexibility and speed. Sustainability is central to the program, with demonstrations of eco-friendly substrates, food-safe inks, and waste-reduction strategies that address both regulatory and commercial pressures. Industry partners HERMA and KURZ will contribute insights on advanced thermal substrates and digital metallization technologies, highlighting how materials and embellishment solutions add value to digital production.
Beyond technology, the event also focuses on workforce development and the skills required to support modern digital operations. Stefan Mail, owner of Mail Druck + Medien, emphasized the importance of innovation for mid-sized converters seeking global competitiveness, while Xeikon’s Danny Mertens noted the practical nature of the tour format. The free event is open to label and packaging professionals interested in digital production, sustainability, and operational best practices.
