Not all heroes wear capes!

When the world started to close its doors a few weeks ago, we heard of the struggles which were being faced in health sectors everywhere. We wondered if there would be any businesses out there in our industry who would step up, fly the flag and show community spirit comparable to none. Well there was…

Jon Tolley and the Prime Group may have only thought they were just doing their job, but deciding to turn their attentions and ask their team to make PPE equipment in the form of visors for Glenfield AICU, is truly inspirational. Jon himself sums it up saying: ‘After a distressing call that front line workers were short on PPE equipment we turned our amazing Prime Group team and equipment to making visors to help keep them safe. #YourNHSNeedsYou.’ Great work!

We found our friends across the pond are also doing their bit. Minuteman Press in Levittown, NY are making use of the 3D printing technology they have developed, to create protective face shields which are being rolled out to medical professionals across the area.

The Data Image Group have really showcased their creative skills by producing flat pack cardboard beds (not the kind you find in a Swedish superstore) making the production time, transportation and build for emergency hospitals easier and quicker. Believe it or not, their robot also adhered to the rules and worked in isolation, in order to cut 3000 protective screens for essential workers too. See it in action for yourself on their Twitter feed.

In the current climate, we applaud South Australian packaging company Detmold Group, who are actually having to employ an extra 160 staff to produce millions of respirators and surgical masks.

Fellow Aussie company the Coleman Group has also turned their attentions, using their 3D printer to produce upwards of 150 PPE face shields every day.

You guys rock!

With so many creative, selfless and inspirational companies across our industry, we couldn’t possibly list them all, but if you know anyone who you think is going the extra mile, tweet us @calinker_www using #printheroes.
