Agfa is working on the sale of its printing plate division, this according to leading Belgian newspapers De Tijd and HLN.be. The sales process would already be in the second round and the candidate buyers would be investment funds rather than industrial players.
On January 21st last year (2021), INKISH NEWS reported;
“AGFA INTENDS TO REORGANIZE ITS OFFSET SOLUTIONS ACTIVITIES.” By creating a stand-alone legal entity structure and organization within the Agfa-Gevaert Group, Agfa aims to improve its profitability and address the significant decline in market demand.
And so the Belgian group already incorporated its Offset division into a separate legal entity at the beginning of last year, which is often the first move in the run-up to a Sale.
This sale of the printing plate division should offer Agfa the opportunity to fully go for DIGITAL and INKJET. The Offset division recorded a turnover of 748 million euros in 2021, which corresponds to 43 percent of Agfa's group turnover.
After completion of the sale, Agfa will still consist of Healthcare IT (medical imaging), equipment and software for radiology departments of hospitals (Radiology Solutions), and finally Printers and inks for industrial applications (Digital Print & Chemicals).
