Asahi Photoproducts’ participation in Sustainability Day Southeast Asia underscores the critical role of flexographic innovation, water-washable plates, and solvent-free platemaking in driving sustainable packaging solutions. Asahi shared results from a recent study by Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication (BICG) that found Tup to 35 times reduction in carbon emissions using flexography using water-based plates and inks versus gravue using solvent-based. As global brands and regulatory bodies intensify their focus on lowering environmental impact, the transition from solvent-based gravure to water-based flexo is gaining momentum. Asahi’s CleanPrint water-washable AWP plates, aligned with its “Roadmap to Solvent ZERO,” represent on approach to reducing VOC emissions, energy consumption, and waste in platemaking.
